Get Booked
How can we get booked?
All booking inquiries must be sent via the online booking request form. Please DO NOT call The Freight Room about booking. Booking staff will respond to your requests in the order in which they are received.
When can we be booked?
The Freight Room currently books bands on Friday and Saturday nights in the following time slots:
- 6 to 6:40 p.m.
- 7 to 7:40 p.m.
- 8 to 8:40 p.m.
- 9 to 9:40 p.m.
Do not submit a booking request without checking the up-to-date events calendar found on the Freight Room home page.
NOTE: You may request two timeslots for your band if you believe you can fill more than a 40-minute set. Bands may also request to book an entire night themselves when available.
Other nights may be available for rental. For rental information/pricing, please contact rentals@thefreightroom.com or at 952-548-6309.
The Freight Room only books about two months in advance. You can always check the events calendar for availability and send us an email.
How long are set times?
Sets are 40 minutes in length, with 20 minutes in between bands. A band in the 7 p.m. spot would set up at 6:40 p.m. and be done playing at 7:40 p.m.
When is our load in?
The Freight Room is an actual 100+ year old train depot and as such has no backstage for equipment. During cold months, please bring guitars, amps and drums inside the building and place on the side of stage in an organized fashion.
The Freight Room does not have a place to store equipment for band members before/after their sets. Therefore, load-in is the 20 minutes before your set.
What does the Freight Room provide?
The Freight Room provides mics, cables, stands and D/Is. It is recommended that all acts bring their own tech - amps, pedal boards, keys plus stand, and all necessary equipment. Any special requests or equipment should be okay-ed in advance of the show.
The Freight Room also has the best hands on light show for your set, so come prepared!
Do we get paid?
Learn more about band payment at the Freight Room here.
What are the age limits?
The Freight Room is an all-age venue run by a high school student board of directors. While the Freight Room strives to book many bands/performers with members in high school, we encourage bands/performers of all ages to play.
Similarly, we welcome friends and family of all ages to come and view shows at the Freight Room, keeping in mind that we are a youth venue and some families may feel that language/subject matter may not be appropriate for all ages.
Can we "mosh?"
At the discretion of the Freight Room Sound Team, moshing and dancing is encouraged to a certain point. Once it gets beyond that point, Sound Team staff can and will intervene for the safety of all fans and gear.
Can we swear/curse/use explicit language?
Explicit language should be kept to a minimum. While the Freight Room wants bands to express themselves fully, staff reserves the right to halt any performance it deems to be over the line and inappropriate.
Promoting drug or alcohol use, or disrespect of any group (sexism, homophobia, racism, etc.) will not be tolerated.
How many people can we put on the guest list?
The Freight Room policy only permits the artists in the band or group who booked to load-in, line check and be on stage. No other guests, parents or friends will be allowed in for selling merchandise or photography. The cover to get in is $5.
Do we get free drinks?
The Freight Room does not give band members free drinks other than providing water and coffee. Remember to stay hydrated on stage.
Can we play cover songs?
YES! The Freight Room now has appropriate recording licenses, so please feel free to play cover songs.
