Technology & Website Instructors

Our Computer Lab is set up with 4 PCs, internet and Wi-Fi available for instructional purpose. Instructional days and times are flexible for each technology offering.

Beginning Computer Instructor

Teach a class designed for the beginning PC user to senior adults.

Pinterest Instructor

Instruct older adults at the Hopkins Activity Center about Pinterest: A pinboard-style photo sharing website that allows users to create and manage theme-based image collections such as events, interests, hobbies, and more. 

Students learn how to set up and manage a Pinterest account, browse other pinboards for inspiration and how to “re-pin” images to their own account or 'like' photos. 

Twitter Instructor

Help older adult students understand Twitter, the social media tool used to connect with people, share links, resources and information. 

Teach students how to:

  • Set up an account
  • Create Tweets
  • Find people to follow
  • Learn how to use the features of Twitter such as Retweets, @ mentions and hashtags

Tablet Instructor

The Tablet Lab is designed for older adult tablet users (iPad, Kindle or Nook) to drop in during the designated hours or at a set appointment time. 

The volunteer works with individuals to answer questions and offer assistance as needed. 

Instagram Instructor

Help older adult students understand Instagram, the photo and video social networking tool. 

Teach students how to:

  • Download the app
  • Set up an account
  • Follow friends and post photos and videos
  • Select privacy settings
  • Share on other social networking platforms, such as Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr and Flickr

Students need to bring their mobile device. 

Facebook Instructor

Help older adult students understand Facebook: a social networking service that enables its users to share stories, pictures and videos, host events, etc. 

Teach students how to: 

  • Set up an account
  • Add and follow friends
  • Post photos and videos, etc.
  • Set privacy settings
